newbe and buttons

I have done a few flash webs, see http://happysnapper.com, generally
with a bit of java on the side.

However I have been trying to build a pure Flash site and have come a
right cropper with the buttons.

The thing has nine buttons, set up generally along the lines of
'Classroom in a Book, chapter 6'.

The differences being that the image itself changes between
up-over-down.

There is a sound file on the down.

Each button is loaded on a separate layer because they come in
slightly behind each other, starting y=0 and going to y=100% over
about 10frames to give the effect of being laid out as a set of cards.

The problem is that when the movie is tested the stage loads OK,
heading slides in buttons load, text slides in.

However the buttons keep looping at one hell of a rate, so much that
the sound (explosion) seems to have exploded the speakers on my
Monitor, which is why I have not done an upload for examination ----
don't want to damage anyone else's!!

Could any kind person give me a clue as to what may be happening?????
