Action Script Question

Hi

I know nothing about Flash or Action Scripting, so please excuse my
ignorance. I am just trying to do some research for a project I am working
on.

I want allow users to download (very large) FLV and SWF files to their
computers in their own time. Then I would like to provide an online Flash
player that they access through their internet browser to play these files
locally.

Is it possible to achieve this in Action Script? Can we play local files via
an online flash player in our browser, even if we have the user's express
permission?

I would sincerely any helpful answers, even if it's a point in the right
direction.

yes it is possible. Try to read more about FileReference class in Flash
help.
